Site 6 Road Mitigation Proposals The developers of Site 6 in Felpham are required to make a contribution of £1M towards transport improvements to mitigate the impact of their development. It is agreed that this contribution will deliver the following priorities -
• Traffic management in the Felpham area to ensure that traffic relief in Felpham secured through the delivery of the Bognor Regis Relief Road is sustained in the future. • Then improvements at Comet Corner to address congestion that will arise due to the additional traffic using this junction as a result of the development.
The Site 6 development has not yet commenced, but due to soon. Felpham Parish Council is keen to understand local priorities to enable the traffic management schemes in the Felpham area to be developed and delivered as soon as the relief road is completed or at least in conjunction with that event for the residents of Felpham, as a priority, to help mitigate the increase in traffic that has been forecast from Site Six. These measures are also designed to encourage through traffic to use the New Road and not go through the village.
The Parish Council has therefore been working with West Sussex County Council, Yapton and Middleton-on-Sea to consider the options and plans relating to many aspects of the Site 6 A259 Relief Road that we all hope will be sustainable into the future.
Some initial ideas had been presented on the attached plans (version one) to elicit ideas and comments from members of the public. Those received have now been incorporated into version two (click on this to view). We would still like more views from the residents of Felpham or any other ideas you would like to be considered. This can be done by using the link attached to the plans”.
Once we fully understand the views of our community we will work with the West Sussex County Council to develop firm proposals.
You will have a further opportunity to comment during a formal consultation exercise prior to any construction work being carried out. Print this page? This page was last updated on 06/05/10 at 12:03:09 Office Use Only: 32/29-03-11/Richard Wickens |
